A Goldfinch
by Elizabeth Challinor
When you realize you've been fighting giants all your life
Your chest, heaving and rolling
Don Quijote's windmills
Blowing hot air through your brain
Pull back on the reins of your dramatic imagination
Watch horses graze
A goldfinch perch on the generous branch of a tree
You finally see
Everything and nothing matters
And the ocean crashes on the shores of your soul
