Across the Railway Line
by Elizabeth Challinor
Yesterday
I crossed the railway line
Walking
From one loving community to another
People in both communities accepted
And celebrated each other
In both places
Geographically close
Socially apart
There was
Music
Singing
Smiles
Hugs
And care
To accommodate
A full range of expression
Of whoever
Was there
I arrived home
Alone
Populated inside
With an ever expanding sense of belonging
