Blinded
by Elizabeth Challinor
Into your darkness
I channelled
All my colours
All my light
My hope
My joy
My inner life
After you walked away
I strained my neck to find you
Blinded
By your black silhouette
All I felt
Was death, regret
Unaware of the raven
Perched on my shoulder
I thought you had stolen
My healing light
My mystic colours
Dancing all the while behind me
Writhing in pain
I made the raven flap its wings
Turned to look over my shoulder
And saw with awe
The vibrant space behind me
I turned my back on that dark empty space
And claimed
My light
My colours
My life
And the raven took flight with fright
