Claim the Freedom

Claim the Freedom

by Elizabeth Challinor

When the pain of a difficult truth

Refuses to go away

Ask it

What else do you have to say?

Listen softly

Without judgement

Take it in your hands

Hold it

Feel the solid hurt

Allow it to grow

To expand

Sit it on your lap

Then slowly

Ever so slowly

Begin to rock to and fro

Cradle it in your arms

Tell it I understand

You are welcome to stay

Feel it soften, lighten

Watch it melt into clay

And claim the freedom

To mould it with loving hands

That is for you to discover!
