Feelings
by Elizabeth Challinor
He pulled his beloved closer
Began to whisper in her ear
No!
She said and pushed him away
I don't want to hear what you have to say
About your feelings
Why, he cried, don't you care?
I care enough to know
The harm it will do to listen to you
Are you calling me a liar?
Not at all
But anything you say about me
Tonight
Great or small
May turn into a trojan horse
And steal my inner light
I worked so hard to find!
Would you be so kind
Roll over to the other side
Give time for your feelings to subside
Cruel and cold
That's what you are
She smiled
But don't you just love the sea?
