Gravity

Gravity

by Elizabeth Challinor

You again?

Why?

I was doing just fine

Feeling healed inside

I had it all under control

How dare

You

Creep

Up

On

Me

Like

That

From behind

It was all sorted out

In my mind

It made total sense

Coherent

Logical

Reasonable

Plans…

Castles

In the sand

Collapsed

At the first wave of emotional pain

Where did you come from?

Again?

I can’t look you in the eye

Not today

I feel misty, hazy

Crazy

Will this never end?

Has all my progress been in vain?

No!

No says Grandpa

As he springs off the sofa

Catch that thought

Right now

Throw it in the air

See how quickly

It falls to the ground

If gravity doesn’t care

Why should you?
