Grief and Joy
by Elizabeth Challinor
Grief and Joy
Went hand in hand into the sea
Joy wanted to float
But Grief kept pulling Joy down
Let go of me
Can't you see
We're both going to drown?
A seagull plunged out of the sky
And stole Grief's story with her beak
Grief gave out a thunderstorm cry
She could no longer speak!
Joy opened Grief's wings
And the pain rained down freely
