SHOUTING
by Elizabeth Challinor
She went to the bakers to buy a loaf of bread
The young man behind the counter
He didn't even lift his head
Her whole body began to tremble
Look! Look at me!
You're not dead, are you?
Why don't you see me?
The walls of the bakery began to whisper
Look! Look at her!
Who can survive on tea and bread?
The young man was busy on his phone
She took the brown paper bag and went out to go home
Then turned her back, what was that?
The walls of the bakery
Shaking
Every brick
Shouting
Her name
