Surrender
by Elizabeth Challinor
I have surrendered
I no longer seek shelter
from my pain
No promises, analyses or words of wisdom
Just surrender
To the storm
I will no longer pile up sand bags
In my soul
Yes
Come in and stay
While I live each day
Howl through me
While I go on my way
Living, eating, sleeping
Talking, walking, writing
Smiling
Sometimes laughing
Other times crying
But always knowing
That neither reason nor comfort
Will keep the pain at bay
For long...
So
Flow through me
Raging River
I am the green grassy banks
That have nothing to say.
