The breath
by Elizabeth Challinor
Yet another meditation guru
Says all you have to do is focus on the breath
Just breathe and leave the rest
Yes!
Heard that before
A sigh of disappointment
I wanted something more
Until the day I heard a wise soul say
Breathing reminds you that you are worthy of being here
What? I gasp
Just because of that
I can give myself a pat on the back?
In a few split seconds
All my struggles and achievements, preconceptions and judgments evaporate
Funny how a single conversation can wipe away the condensation on the windscreen of your mind
Now in every face I see
That magical first breath of a newborn
