The Other Side

The Other Side

by Elizabeth Challinor

When the memories descend out of nowhere

like a thick heavy fog

and envelop you in their pain,

stretch out a hand,

plant a flower and claim your power.

A ray of white shining light,

a sea of hidden strength,

an album of other memories,

tender,

sweet and fun.

The fog will still linger,

do not point a finger.

Look through to the other side.

Eventually it will subside.

And return again!

When the pain descends out of nowhere like a thick heavy fog,

smile quietly and say, "you again?"

Stretch out a hand,

plant another flower

and claim your power.

The fog will still linger,

don't point a finger.

Look through to the other side.

Plant your tender powers

and reap a life of flowers.
