Vibes of Vulnerability
by Elizabeth Challinor
To give off vibes of vulnerability
Is not a call for help or rescue
It is a sharing of our inevitable humanity
Our strength
Hidden in the scars of living
In a world constantly at war
To write
With open words
In search of a collective cure
A mad woman's delusion?
For sure!
I will never forget the man in Luanda who stood with his back to the altar in a crowded catholic mass, face rugged with destruction and confusion
Or the amputee who walked past my window every morning, shouting "maluco o quê? "You calling me crazy?"
No!
I hold you both in my memory
Which I offer to you all
In this poem
As a call to stop all wars
